Remove NFZ

*01/25/19 updated by Quad808*

Since V1.6.0.0 NoLimitDronez allows you to NFZ patch your drone, effectively removing DJI's GEO NFZ platform and allowing you to fly wherever you like.

Once you connect your drone to your PC and NLD click the Remove NFZ option from the left menu. If your current firmware is compatible, it will be marked with green text as shown in the image above. Then you can go ahead and click the "Remove NFZ" button.  *NOTE* we recommend being on 01.04.0300 for the Mavic Pro/Platinum and 01.00.0900 for the Spark* for best results.  Stay on that firmware level.  Remember that for best compatibility across all drones is to use NLD GO 4.1.22, since we have removed the NFZ DB info from that GO version.  If you use iOS GO (stock) higher than 4.1.3, you will have a NFZ db in it, and that goes for Android Stock GO as well.
Also remember that the drone will not "restart" like normal during this process.  It does a "soft" reboot, only restarting the Flight Controller, so you will not hear the start up chimes.  If you leave your PC speakers on, you will hear the Drone disconnect and reconnect windows chimes on USB.  To check if NFZ has been removed...Sparks will show Precise Fly Safe Database of
01.00.13.37 in the about screen in GO.  Mavics and P4's may be detected by NLD one firmware lower than actual. (this will be addresses in future bug fixes)

If your firmware is not compatible it will be marked with red text and you will have to downgrade to the latest compatible firmware which will be shown underneath Compatible Firmware list.

If it is compatible, just click the Remove NFZ button at the bottom of the screen, wait a while and you're now free from GEO!

*NFZ INFO*
There are two NFZ databases that DJI uses.  One is on the drone, and that is handled by this patch to zero out the database.  NFZ is still running, but no NFZ zones are on the drone.  The other database is in the GO app.  This means that even if you remove the NFZ db data using this patch and use STOCK GO, you will still not be able to fly in a NFZ, since the GO App NFZ will take over.  You will need to use NLD GO 4.1.22 (Android) or downgrade your iOS GO to 4.1.3.  That version doesn't have a NFZ DB in it, since it is an early version.  Here is an excellent video from our friend digdat0 telling you how to do this:

As a note. NFZ's are usually there for a reason. NLD takes no responsibility for what you do with your drone with unlocked NFZ's. Don't be an idiot, stay away from airports, aircraft, people etc etc etc.

I've got a Mavic Pro Platinum. Everything seems great when getting the program started. Says my firmware is compatible, but after clicking to start, it says "Starting" with a bar but it hangs up everytime. Hangs up even trying another computer. It has just been a waste of time. What is missing?? NLD support has not been helpful. They just send generic link info to the instructions.

If you have a "newer" Mavic, and I forget the mfg. dates, you may need to add an SD Card inside your bird before it will work. Here's a tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_RhqHHli7Q

Thanks, I'll check out that tutorial. I have flown mine and it had an SD card in it.

Oh my! An SD inside? Why in the world doesn't NLD mention that? It is a much bigger job than just a software Mod. Seems easy enough but what if you break something or the contacts on the card just don't line up etc. Also strange that I didn't get any errors. It just hung up. Turns out mine was built June 2018. The link shows a full size SD card but now they are Micro? Does anyone have a link to show that? Thx

"Mine was built June 2018" is you're problem! I forget the cutoff date when DJI removed them, bu it was in 2017. The birds before the cutoff date had a Micro SDCard that needed to be there for the earlier firmware, so when you use NLD to downgrade to the earlier firmware, it will fault out (without errors) because it's trying to write to something that doesn't exist.

I've never had to install one since I fly a P4P, but I haven't read about and "Bad Experiences" yet from anyone that's done it.

I would do it in a heartbeat if it was my bird. Just say'n....

I definitely want to get the NFZ out. I was in the desert and I gave me a waring that I am supposed to be able to click 'yes' I will take responsibility but it would not get off my screen. So is it definite that I would have an open micro SD slot inside my DJI Pro Platinum manufactured in 2018? Does anyone have pics or video of the card slot? The video accompanied with this link shows the SD card and the guy did things like re-glue the card holder that was not necessary. So, I'm wondering if there are any nuances to getting to that Micro SD slot.

I would say yes to needing the SDCard. Search YouTube for more videos of people doing it. To me it looks easy...

very easy to do, 100% required for a 2018 drone.
